Willigis Jäger
Willigis Jäger (1925)
is a Benedictine monk and Zen master in the Japanese tradition of the Sanbo Kyodan Society. Inspiration he finds in Christian mysticism, Zen Buddhism and modern science. With this extraordinairy combination, he wants to evoke an ‘integral spirituality’, open for scientific insights, that transcend the individual religions, and give clues for genuine renewal, in personal as well as social ways. In Germany, Willigis Jäger is well-known for his books and his guidance of seminars and meditation sessions, for business managers and others. He is a mystic with modern viewpoints, searching for connection between science, religious experience and social issues. In his recent book, Westöstliche Weisheit – Visionen einer integrälen Spiritualität (Wisdom from West and East: Visions of an integral spirituality; available in German and Dutch), he displays a vision that includes the essence of all confessional institutions and will lead to a transconfessional experience.
