Wisdom from silence

Wisdom from silence

The moon will teaches the wise man,

by its silent course in the sky.

(Clemens Brentano)

Wisdom, we suppose, is important in work and management, especially in the case of difficult decisions. By the structures of our work however, we have created a setting that is focused on knowledge and logic. We simply do not take our time, thinking that we cannot allow ourselves the silence in which wisdom is able to unfold. Among scientists it is widely known, that real innovation and deep insights are developed in an inner space that is beyond thinking. Here silence becomes an important medium.

Our source of wisdom can arise in silence. Similar to the moon, quietly shining in the sky at night and moving on. In the quiet space of our existence, new insights are born. Are we able to perceive this silence in ourselves?

The moon can serve as an example. When we keep watching it mindfully, it has a calming effect. Thus, by the teachings of the moon, the wise man will have access to inner silence and gain new insights and wisdom.
